Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement long-range objectives and plans for Hatchery areas in conjunction with overall Live production, Hatchery/Breeder and company strategies and objectives.
2. Participate in the development of Hatchery goals and objectives through formal profit plans, capital budgets, and narrative write ups of goals and plans.
3. Develop and implement programs to ensure that West Breeder/Hatchery assets are properly planned for anticipated production volumes, with procedures and plans in place to ensure that they are properly safeguarded and maintained.
4. Participate in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures as developed for the Hatchery/Breeder area and Live Production Business Unit.
5. Ensure that West Breeder/Hatchery positions are staffed with competent and motivated personnel.
6. Develop and train personnel to assume increased responsibility throughout the company and work with them for promotion.
7. Ensure that there is communication of objectives, programs, policies, and transmission of necessary information and knowledge within the West Breeder/Hatchery areas so that all personnel are familiar with their authority, responsibilities, and objectives.
8. Ensure that products are being produced to specification which are cost effective and comply with predetermined standards of quality. Establish systems to ensure knowledge of consistency objectives.
9. Ensure that all West Breeder/Hatchery inputs and outputs are fully accounted for in an accurate and timely manner.
10. Ensure that departments comply with all appropriate Jennie-O Turkey Store, Live Production Business Unit and Breeder/Hatchery policies, procedures, and programs.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field and at least five years management experience or equivalent management experience
Able to meet Biosecurity program
Discipline, responsibility, and motivation
A forward thinking attitude and strong organizational skills
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word programs
Valid driver's license and operating history that meet JOTS driver requirements
Preferred
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Poultry Science
At least five years hatchery supervisory experience in JOTS Live Production
