Job Summary
# Job Summary
This position provides purchasing and inventory management activities of various commodities and MnDOT materials. Performs a broad range of work activities associated with purchasing, inventory management, fixed asset management, contract administration, specification, disposal and parts, supplies, equipment and materials disbursement within the guidelines of the Materials Management Plan.
Some examples of work for this position are listed below but not limited to the following:
Procure materials, supplies, and services in accordance with the budget guidelines, contractual obligations, purchasing authority, purchasing procedures, while insuring delivery requirements to support efficient district operations.
Manage the warehousing and distribution of materials and supplies so that necessary quantities are available and essential operations may continue in a timely manner. Make recommendations regarding inventory composition and inventory level for assigned items to Transportation Materials Supervisor.
Use computer applications (ex. Microsoft, Access, SWIFT, M5) for maintaining and reporting important inventory and accounting information so that it can be managed with a high level of accuracy.
Assist the District Safety Officer with the disposal of hazardous waste and recyclable materials
Provide support to district personnel on inventory management and purchasing, including the creation and use of data, forms and spreadsheets for developing and following best practices within the inventory management function as it works within the district.
## Minimum Qualifications:
One year experience working with MnDOT?s Materials Management System sufficient to research equipment, parts and materials through a variety of resources and methods; establish and evaluate product comparison data; and analyze detailed reports to recommend/determine and purchase appropriate inventory.
Two years? experience working with automated materials management/inventory management systems sufficient to research construction equipment, parts and materials; compile, analyze and evaluate product comparison data, write specifications, prepare solicitations, analyze bids and select vendors and purchase inventory.
Experience using various software applications (i.e. spreadsheets, word processing, etc) sufficient to research, update and report on inventory.
Accounting ability sufficient to analyze costs, invoicing and budgets.
In order to pass probation, the successful candidate must achieve the following certifications within 6 months of hire:
Authority for Local Purchase (ALP) Certificate from the Minnesota Department of Administration
Forklift Certification
## Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Terminology related to construction, maintenance (repair and maintenance of equipment, facility operations, etc.) and electronic/electrical operations.
Experience using SWIFT Inventory Management Systems
## Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for more than 2/3 of the work time constantly entering/keyboarding information into computers. Information is also communicated through writing, speaking, and using the telephone. The employee regularly works at a desk or counter, seated and visually interpreting information off a computer monitor. The employee uses wrists, hands, and fingers to handle, or feel; and reaches with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Occasionally, the employee needs to transport/push and pull equipment, parts or supplies on wheeled carts with up to 100 pounds of weight. Also, these items will need to be lifted and carried from waist height. The items can be bulky and unwieldy, and may need to be handled from an awkward stance. Other physical requirements of this position are flexing the lower extremities and the neck about 1/3 of the work time, and reaching occasionally from below the shoulder height. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and rarely to occasionally, twist, bend, or stoop from the waist, kneel, and possibly squat for very brief periods.
## Additional Requirements
Pre-Employment Physical Exam: A pre-placement physical examination is required for this position. Current employees who have successfully bid or are moving into specific job classifications will be required to complete the pre-employment physical exam. The scope of the physical exam will be limited to whether the employee can safely and effectively perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, in compliance with state and federal law.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
